Current FHA Rules/First Time Buyer Tax Credit Favor Buying In '08 At Wind Rose In San Jose

The opportunities for first time buyers as well as with FHA-insured loans available now and throughout the balance of '08 make this an excellent time to buy. Here is a brief summary of the government-sponsored changes that buyers should be aware of. Perhaps the most significant change is that the maximum loan amount limit for an FHA-insured loan was raised in March to $729,950. This increase was created to provide more homebuyers the ability to purchase a home. The loan cap figure is derived from the median cost of a home in any given metro area. This higher amount significantly helps to bridge the gap between loan amount and housing price for the buyer. However, after December 31, 2008, the new maximum limit for FHA loans will return to a cap of $625,500.

Another good reason for not postponing a home buying decision is the recent federal tax credit.  First time buyers should also check out the federal tax credit for up to $7,500 available for homes purchased now.
