New Homes from Braddock & Logan Meet
Build-it-Green™ and US Energy Star® Guidelines

San Francisco Bay Area homebuilder Braddock & Logan Homes has announced that the company will meet the green building standards of the nonprofit organization Build it Green™  and the U.S. government’s ENERGY STAR®program.  According to the company, Braddock & Logan has the greatest number of communities in the Build-it Green program in the Bay Area, further signifying its commitment to energy savings for its customers and underscoring the importance of green building standards for California.

Build it Green is a non-profit membership organization ( whose mission is to promote healthy, energy and resource efficient building practices in California. Companies must demonstrate that their products support the organization’s mission to be eligible for membership. At all Braddock & Logan communities, the builder recycles or reuses a minimum of 50% of all waste materials, installs low water use landscaping to minimize water use and protect the soil from erosion and installs air conditioning systems that use environmentally responsible refrigerant.

Braddock & Logan has also earned the Energy Star rating by meeting U.S. Environmental Protection Agency guidelines for energy efficiency. Energy Star ( is a joint program of the EPA and the Department of Energy whose mission is to help consumers save money and protect the environment through energy efficient products and practices. An Energy Star home from Braddock & Logan is designed to exceed California’s energy efficiency standards for residential building by at least 15%. Energy Star homes may include other features that can make them 20-30% more energy efficient than typical homes.

Since first beginning to build homes in 1947, the company’s focus has been to create new homes that provide lasting value to homebuyers. New homes that meet green building standards can result in significant savings in utility costs. Using environmentally responsible construction practices is a way for the company to remain true to its founding philosophy.

Making a move towards green building is not just good for the planet but also seems to be good for the bottom line for the homeowner.  According to a national consumer survey conducted by the Shelton Group of Knoxville Tenn., energy efficiency has become a top-line consideration when it comes to large purchases like a home.

When consumers were asked how they would spend an extra $10,000 for home improvements, the most often mentioned purchases included energy-efficient windows and doors, Energy Star appliances, high-efficiency water heaters and HVAC systems.  Another study cited by industry expert and BuilderTV spokesperson Mark La Liberte, indicated that 85% of buyers who purchase green homes are more satisfied with that home than any other they have lived in before. Consumers specifically cite lower energy costs, increased comfort levels in the home through efficient heating and cooling systems and healthier living environments due to better indoor air quality as advantages of living in a green built home.

At Braddock & Logan, they’re proving that extra comfort and years of energy savings go hand-in-hand.”
