The process for selecting options begins with understanding the critical construction stages to show how your home is built.
Working together with your sales, design and construction team will make purchasing your new home an enjoyable and seamless experience.
Construction on your new home may or may not have started at the time you sign your sales documents.
The options and selections available to you will depend on the stage of construction of your new home.
Group One Builder Options – At or shortly after signing your sales documents, your Community Sales
Representative will ask you to complete your Builder Options. These options include everything to personalize your home with the exception of flooring, countertops and window coverings. Options are available per community and will be subject to construction cut-off dates, so not all options will be available in all communities at all times.
Foundation – Prior to pouring the foundation, room and plumbing options are selected.
Framing – Your new home starts to take shape. The rooms, ceilings heights and roof will begin to define your new living space.
Design Studio Selections – Your personal choices for flooring, countertops and window coverings will be
completed at the Design Studio generally within thirty days after you have signed your sales documents. Early
selection is important to allow the contractors to order your selections and to store them for installation.
Roofing, Doors, Windows, Electrical, Heating Systems – This is the stage of construction when the roofing
materials, windows, doors, electrical and heating and air conditioning ducting are installed.
Frame Inspection – After the framing and electrical are complete, an inspector from the City or County for your Community, will inspect the construction and sign off on this stage of the building process. This is just one of many stages that are inspected by the City or County as we build your new home.
Sheetrock/Insulation – After the frame inspection, the insulation is installed followed by the sheetrock (drywall). Construction may seem to slow at this stage as your
Superintendent is scheduling the cabinets, the interior paint, appliances, lighting and hardware, fireplace installation and a myriad of other finishing touches.
Flooring and Countertops – Countertops in baths and kitchens will be installed, as well as the flooring hard surfaces – tile, granite, stone, hardwood flooring – in your home. Carpet will be installed after the hard surfaces are complete.
Landscaping – Sod or grass, plants, trees and shrubs are installed, as well as the irrigation system. Street trees – those required by the City or County – are also installed at the front of your home close to the street. These set the backdrop theme for the Community as required by the City or County.
Final Prep – Once all selections are installed and your home is complete, a professional team will add the final touches with a thorough cleaning of your home in preparation for your Home Orientation walk-thru.
New Home Orientation – The purpose of the New Home Orientation is to introduce you to the elements that comprise your home, to explain the plumbing and mechanical systems, to address your questions and concerns and to review the Warranty procedure for future servicing of your needs.
